Friday, Jan. 10, 2003
Room 7096
-- 87 PowerRangers attended! --

1. Opening Activity: Think -- Pair -- Share

Rangers were asked to brainstorm in a Think-Pair-Share activity regarding Fair Use Copyright guidelines in education. Charlene shared scenario examples of sharing digital information within a school setting. Participants' understanding of Fair Use Guidelines were applied to the scenarios. Charlene encouraged participants to check out the Copyright information available from the Staff Development page. The scenarios are from the 20-question quiz from Hall Davidson, for more information please visit: http://www.techlearning.com/content/speak/articles/copyright.html.

2. Staff Development Options

As PowerRangers seek to fulfill their 8-hour "training" commitment, the following options may be considered:

3.  End of Semester / Mentor Observation Accountability:

ALL RANGERS are asked to complete the End of Semester Report by Friday, January 24. The web link to the online form will be sent via email to all PowerRangers. Veteran Rangers will notice that the report format is similar to the one completed last year. As you answer the open-ended questions please be sure to include how you have met your 8 hour training requirement this semester. Sam does not want a minute-by-minute list, but rather a narrative illustrating the workshops, activities, conferences, etc. you have attended or conducted. Remember we are looking for examples of growth as a result of your individual and collaborative work as a PowerRanger. Please discuss with your mentee, or email Sam if you have any questions.. Sam summarizes the responses to report to the Board of Education.

4.  Administrivia

Future of PowerRangers: Sam announced that the PowerRanger program will expand by another 50 teachers next year. An announcement will be made in the spring.

PowerRangers will meet next on Feb. 14, 2003, during all lunch periods in Room 7096.

Thanks to those who helped at the meeting, our Ratpack representatives, and especially Carolyn Brumund for bringing in ice and the overhead projector!
