Using the ClarisWorks Assistant to create a Slide Show presentation

The "Assistants" in AppleWorks "walk you through" the steps required to create various documents. You can easily create a slide show with the "Presentation" assistant. All slide shows created with the assistant are "Drawing" documents. You should be familiar with the AppleWorks drawing tools before you begin.

How to begin:
From the "New Document" dialog box, select "Use Assistant or Stationery"

Once you have selected a background, next choose your "content" from one of six samples. The assistant will create the slides and place text frames or placeholders on each page with text suggestions based on the content you choose.

New in AppleWorks 5.0...

Stationery documents for Slide Shows!

Unlike "Assistants" the Stationery documents are "template" files that you use as starters. You're not asked any questions nor walked through any steps, you simply open a template and make changes and additions to fit your presentation. AppleWorks 5.0 offers several choices that are outlined on the "Presentations Index" stationery file. Use these stationery templates with the new libraries for quick and easy presentations!

Libraries full of Slide Show fun!
From the Filemenu, choose Library -> Slides
Then, choose from: Basic
Book Report
Business Plan
Classic
Field Trip
Financial Report
Hip
My Summer Vacation
Science Report

Each library contains "pre-formatted" text samples sized perfectly for slide show viewing. Just change the text color to complement your presentation! Be sure to check out the selections in the "Classic" library for some "super" layouts and the "Hip" library for some cool objects to help illustrate your points! There are some spreadsheet starters in the "Financial" library which you can customize, and some graphs which although can't be altered, can give you an idea of graphs you or your students might want to create!
