Exploring AppleWorks Assistants

AppleWorks has assistants that help you create documents and perform tasks by pointing and clicking your way through a series of prompts. Assistants are available each time you start a new document in AppleWorks.

To use an assistant click “Use Assistant or Stationery” from the new document screen, then choose the assistant for your task!

Address List
Pick one of three “pre-designed” databases: Personal, Business, or Student. Each database has a layout for printing mailing labels!

Business Cards
This assistant will create a database of 10 identical records in a layout suitable for printing to card stock or business card stock from Avery. Always print to plain paper first to check how cards are printing.

Calendar
The Calendar Assistant will create a separate spreadsheet document for each month you specify in the assistant.

Certificate
Design your own or try one of the pre-printed titles. Your selections in this assistant will help determine what your certificate looks like.

Newsletter
This assistant creates a newsletter with “linked” text boxes in a drawing document. You can also print a sample newsletter with instructions.

Home Finance
Want to loan your children money and charge them interest? This assistant will create a spreadsheet to calculate interest and more!

Presentation
A fun and easy way for you or your students to create slide shows as a Drawing document! Point and click your way to a completed slide show where you only change the words for your own. Hint: Items on the slides are “locked” in place. You can unlock items using the Arrange menu.

But wait, there’s more!
