Software Update:

Before you begin, BE SURE ALL YOUR FILES ARE BACKED UP, you have quit all applications, and that you have a network connection!

From the Apple menu, select Software Update:

Your computer will connect to Apple to determine what software is available:

This will bring up a window with “suggested items” specific to your computer. Notice that installing some items will require a restart (small gray arrow on the left):

Before the install can begin, you must type your login password:

You can monitor the progress, which could take between 20-50 minutes or more depending upon what items need to be installed.

When finished, click Restart
